Unwanted interlopers

There have been one or two occasions when comments from unknown sources have been posted after the publication of new messages. Peter Watson drew our attention to a Blogger facility that can overcome this.

I have looked into this and find that it is possible that the comments are generated automatically, and are known as automated spam. To overcome this it is possible to choose word verification option. This will mean that if anyone does want to post a comment they will have to type a code word that will be provided into a box. Apparently this should defeat the automated spam, as only a human response will open up the comments box.

I have set up word verification on our blog. It will be interesting to see if this cures the problem.
