Going...going....GONE

Writing a tribute to the dear departed is always a sad task. It is equally so when the subject has not actually departed but is just on the point of doing so. We have just heard that Keith Drury, together with his wife Kulwant, is about to shake the dust (or rather the sand and mud) of Weston-super-Mare from his feet and set up home in Leicester. If we ask the question what has Leicester got that Weston-super-Mare hasn’t the answer will soon be – Keith.

If anyone qualifies for the description, a man of many parts, Keith certainly does.
Engineering, linguistics, and many other skills come naturally to him. For years, he has been one of our real experts in our Computer Group, and we have become used to relying on him for answers to almost all of our problems. Some of us have wondered what he himself has gained from joining us at our meetings at the Open Door, but he has been kind enough to reassure us that he has derived benefits from being involved with the group.

So far as I am aware, he has never told us which school he went to. I have a strong suspicion that it was Hogwarts. Where else would he have learnt all that wizardry? I can visualise him setting off every year, together with Graham, to attend the old boys’ reunion dinner.

He will of course cease to be a member of our group. However I am not proposing to remove his name as a contributor to this blog. Perhaps every now and again he will give us some information about himself or even give us the odd tip or two.

Although we are sorry to see them go, we wish both Keith and Kulwant every happiness in their new home.

Many thanks, Tom! Lancaster Royal Grammar School, actually. Was then, and remains one of the best schools in the country - seriously lucky to be brought up in its catchment area.
