Keep them safe
The following advice was received by me from a credit reference company. We have all had the warnings many times before but we cannot be reminded of them too often.
1 in 4 UK consumers have fallen victim to identity theft – don’t let it be you next!
Look at the list of items in the following list. Do you carry several with you at any one time? If so, your wallet, handbag or briefcase could represent your biggest daily risk. An identity fraudster would love to get their hands on any one of these items – they could then try to apply for credit in your name. If they managed to steal them all, they’d be laughing all the way to your bank!
- Mobile phone- Receipts- Driving Licence- Cheque book- Cheques- Payslip- Utility or bank statement- PIN numbers- Passport
So how can you protect yourself?
Prevention is better than cure. DON’T carry unnecessary items around with you all of the time. What you don’t need, leave in a safe place at home.
